McKenna on KIRO: Gun purchase waiting periods and “red flag” laws

KIRO 97.3 host Dave Ross asked Rob about a California law that requires a 10-day waiting period for gun purchases. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to review a lower court ruling that upheld the law. Ross also asked about “red flag” laws in the wake of the Parkland, Florida shooting.

Ross: “There was a pretty vigorous dissent written by Clarence Thomas. What was his point?”

McKenna: “Justice Thomas is clearly upset by what he believes is the unequal treatment of one constitutional right – under the 2nd Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms – versus other rights.

“He said if this case were about a waiting period to obtain an abortion, he believes that there would have been at least four justices who wanted to grant review of it.”
